Signs of Ins Being Disabled#
When I opened Ins in the afternoon, it prompted me that there was a problem with my account and I needed to verify my phone number. Without much thought, I filled it in as shown in the figure below.
When I open Ins, it pops up with the page above and doesn't let me enter the app.
So in the evening, I couldn't wait any longer and logged out of my account, wanting to log in again and give it a try. However, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't log in:
- Logging in with my Facebook account: My Ins account is linked to Facebook, and I used to log in this way. But now I can't get in.
- Logging in with my username and password: I have a habit of keeping my username and password in the notes, so there's no way I could have gotten them wrong. But it kept saying my password was incorrect.
Incredibly, when I directly searched for my username on the website, I found that the user could no longer be found.

How to Recover Your Account?#
Recovering is very simple, and if it's in the afternoon (Beijing time), you can recover it quickly.
Login website:
Fill out the form
Note:
- The email doesn't have to be the one previously associated with the account, they will help you rebind it to the newly filled one.
- Don't use a domestic email! You may not receive the email.
- If you forget your account name, there's nothing you can do.
- The name doesn't have to be your real name.
- It's recommended to take a screenshot of the information you filled out, you'll need it later.
- Just fill in China for the country.
After filling it out, you will soon receive the following email:
Write down the following on paper:
- The numeric code
- Full name (the same as the name filled out on the website earlier)
- Username
It's best to write with a thick pen and make it big, then take a selfie with it.
Some phone cameras produce mirrored images... just flip it yourself.
Reply directly to that email, attaching the photo.
You can say a few words, I used English to politely ask them to restore my account as soon as possible.
You won't have to wait long, you'll receive an email confirming the restoration of your account!
Afterword#
At first, I maliciously speculated that Ins disabled my account because I filled in a mainland Chinese phone number, but the fact proved that they treat all users equally. The email was also in Chinese, and the recovery was quick and thoughtful.
Losing an account is very distressing, the people you follow, and the posts, the memories are lost.
I hope everyone can recover their accounts as soon as possible.
